At Jo Wesley Wellness, I strive to foster positive, lifelong relationships between children and food by delivering age-appropriate nutrition education in a manner that involves the entire family. By prioritizing the creation of an environment where no child feels self-conscious about their current eating habits, nutrition information is presented in an enjoyable and interactive manner. Additionally, an emphasis is placed on the importance of mindful eating. My goal is to help children develop the ability to recognize and respect their own hunger and fullness cues, preventing inadvertent overeating in their growing bodies.

It is crucial to break any patterns of shame, secrecy, and hiding that may exist—especially within the family dynamic. By removing parents from the role of the “food police” and shifting the focus away from shame and restrictions surrounding food, we will instead utilize children’s food preferences to boost their self-confidence, establish rapport, and alleviate anxiety. The Jo Wesley Wellness approach is heavily influenced by Ellyn Satter’s division of responsibility for feeding, which defines both the parent and child’s specific responsibilities when it comes to eating. The Jo Wesley Wellness experience provides parents with valuable resources, including book recommendations, grocery lists, and snack/meal ideas.

At Jo Wesley Wellness, I strive to offer your teenager age-appropriate nutrition education that is both enjoyable and informative, enabling them to easily grasp and apply healthy eating habits in their daily lives. Your teenager will learn to become equipped with the necessary tools to become confident and capable caretakers of their own nutrition and overall well-being. Through the Jo Wesley Wellness program, teens are educated on the significance of mindful eating techniques, empowering them to understand and honor their body’s hunger and fullness cues, while encouraging enjoyable physical activities to stay active.

The Jo Wesley Wellness approach embraces the involvement of the entire family, ensuring that your teenager never feels singled out or isolated. Ultimately, I aim to diminish restrictive or rebellious attitudes towards food, while teaching teenagers how to assume control of their food choices, body, and body image, promoting self-confidence and independence.
